ويهدف الاتفاق الدولي إلى عودة حركة السفن وصادرات الحبوب الأوكرانية نحو العالم وخاصة الشرق الأوسط، وإلى تخفيف أزمة غذاء عالمية والذي تسبب في ارتفاع أسعار السلع في عدد من أفقر دول العالم.

وتقول أوكرانيا التي كانت من أكبر مصدري الحبوب في العالم قبل الحرب، إنها تسعى لتصدير 20 مليون طن من إنتاجها من الحبوب والبالغة قيمتها حوالي 10 مليارات دولار في الخطط المقبلة.
