نابليون بونابرت واسمه الأصلي نابليوني دي بونابرته, هو قائد عسكري وسياسي فرنسي إيطالي الأصل، بزغ نجمه وشهرته خلال أحداث الثورة الفرنسية، وقاد عدَّة حملات عسكرية ناجحة ضدَّ أعداء فرنسا خِلال حروبها الثورية.

حيث حكم نابليون بونابرت فرنسا في أواخر القرن الثامن عشر بصفته قنصلًا عامًا، ثم بصفته إمبراطورًا في العقد الأول من القرن التاسع عشر، حيث كان لأعماله وتنظيماته الإدارية تأثير كبير على السياسة الأوروبية.

الحروب النابليونية

حيث هيمن نابليون على الشؤون الأوروبية والدولية خِلال فترة حُكمه، وقاد فرنسا في سلسلة انتصارتٍ مُبهرة على القوى العسكريَّة الحليفة التي قامت في وجهها.

فيما عُرف بالحروب النابليونية، وبنى إمبراطوريَّةً كبيرة حيث سيطرت على مُعظم أنحاء أوروبَّا القاريَّة حتَّى سنة 1815 عندما سقطت وتفكَّكت.

الولادة

وُلد نابليون بونابرت في جزيرة كورسيكا القريبة من إيطاليا لأبوين ينتميان إلى طبقة أرستقراطية تعود بجذورها إلى إحدى عائلات إيطاليا القديمة النبيلة.

ألحقه والده "كارلو بونابرت"، المعروف عند الفرنسيين باسم "شارل بونابرت" في مدرسة بريان العسكرية, ثم التحق بعد ذلك بمدرسة سان سير العسكرية الشهيرة.

التعليم

وفي المدرستين أظهر تفوقًا باهرًا على رفاقه، ليس فقط في العلوم العسكرية وإنما أيضًا في الآداب والتاريخ والجغرافيا, وخلال دراسته اطّلع على روائع كتب القرن الثامن عشر في فرنسا وجلّهم.

حيث كانوا من أصحاب ودعاة المبادئ الحرة, فقد عرَف عن كثب مؤلفات فولتير ومونتسكيو وروسو، الذي كان أكثرهم أثرًا في تفكير الضابط الشاب.

المدرسة الحربية

حيث أنهى دروسه الحربية وتخرّج في سنة 1785م وعُين برتبة ملازم أول في سلاح المدفعية التابع للجيش الفرنسي الملكي, وفي سنة 1795 أُعطيت له فرصة الظهور.

وهنا برز براعته لأول مرة في باريس نفسها حين ساهم في تعضيد حكومة الإدارة وفي القضاء على المظاهرات التي قام بها الملكيون، تساعدهم العناصر المحافظة والرجعية.

ملكية دستورية

ثم عاد في سنة 1797 ودعم هذه الحكومة ضد توجه أن تكون فرنسا ملكية دستورية فبات منذ هذا التاريخ السند الفعلي لها وإلى الدستور سنة 1795.

ظهر وبزغ نجم نابليون بونابرت خلال عهد الجمهورية الفرنسية الأولى، عندما عهدت إليه حكومة الإدارة بقيادة حملتين عسكريتين موجهتين ضد ائتلاف الدول المنقضّة على فرنسا.

حملة عسكرية

فانتصر في جميع المعارك التي خاضها، وتمكَّن من فتح شبه الجزيرة الإيطاليَّة خلال سنة، وأقام بها "جمهوريات شقيقة لفرنسا" بِتأييدٍ من بعض القوى المحليَّة، لِيُصبح بطلًا قوميًّا في فرنسا.

سنة 1798 قاد نابليون بونابرت حملةً عسكريَّةً على مصر في سبيل قطع طريق بريطانيا إلى الهند، وامتدَّت حملته هذه حتى بلغت الشام الجنوبية حيثُ حاصر مدينة عكَّا لكنه فشل في اقتحامها لمناعة استحكاماتها وصُمود واليها أحمد باشا الجزار.

وباء الطاعون

ومساندة الأسطول البريطاني لحامية المدينة، ثُمَّ مع حلول وباء الطاعون وفتكه بالجنود الفرنسيين، اضطرَّ نابليون بونابرت إلى الانسحاب إلى مصر ثم عاد إلى أوروبا لاضطراب الأحوال في فرنسا.

وفي سنة 1799، عزل نابليون بونابرت حكومة الإدارة وأنشأ بدلًا منها حكومة مؤلفة من 3 قناصل، وتقلّد هو بنفسه منصب القنصل الأول.

 ثم أقام أحلافًا عسكريَّةً ودبلوماسيَّةً مع الفُرس والهُنُود والعُثمانيين في سبيل ضرب كُلٍ من المصالح البريطانيَّة في الهند، والمصالح الروسيَّة في الشرق الأوسط.

التعاون مع الهنود والفرس

وتعاون مع سُلطان مملكة ميسور فتح‌ علي خان تيپو وأيَّدهُ بِجُنُودٍ ومعدَّاتٍ كثيرة خِلال حربه مع البريطانيين في الهند.

حيث سعى نابليون بونابرت، بعد ذلك، في إعلان نفسه إمبراطورًا، وتم له هذا بعد 5 سنوات بإعلان من مجلس الشيوخ الفرنسي.

خاضت الإمبراطورية الفرنسية نزاعات عدّة خلال العقد الأول من القرن التاسع عشر، عُرفت باسم الحروب النابليونية، ودخلت فيها جميع القوى العظمى في أوروبا, وأحرزت فرنسا انتصارات باهرة في ذلك العهد.

التوسع الأوروبي

على جميع الدول التي قاتلتها، وجعلت لنفسها مركزًا رئيسيًا في أوروبا القارية وهي فرنسا، ومدّت أصابعها في شؤون جميع الدول الأوروبية تقريبًا.

حيث قام نابليون بونابرت في توسيع نطاق التدخل الفرنسي في المسائل السياسية الأوروبية عن طريق خلق تحالفات مع بعض الدول، وتنصيب بعض أقاربه وأصدقائه على عروش الدول الأخرى.

هزائم نابليون

شكّل الغزو الفرنسي إلى روسيا سنة 1812م نقطة تحول في حظوظ نابليون بونابرت، حيث أُصيب الجيش الفرنسيّ خلال الحملة بأضرار وخسائر بشرية ومادية جسيمة، لم  يتمكن نابليون بونابرت من النهوض به مرةً أخرى بعد ذلك.

وفي سنة 1813، هَزمت قوّات الائتلاف السادس الجيش الفرنسيّ في معركة الأمم؛ وفي السنة التالية اجتاحت هذه القوّات فرنسا ودخلت العاصمة باريس، وأجبرت نابليون على التنازل عن العرش، ونفَوه إلى جزيرة ألبا.

هروب نابليون

حيث هرب نابليون بونابرت من منفاه بعد أقل من سنة، وعاد حتى يتربع على عرش فرنسا، وحاول مقاومة الحلفاء واستعادة مجده السابق، لكنهم هزموه شر هزيمة في معركة واترلو خلال شهر يونيو من عام 1815.

وهنا استسلم نابليون بونابرت بعد ذلك للبريطانيين، الذين نفَوه إلى جزيرة القديسة هيلانة، المستعمرة البريطانية، حيث أمضى هناك السنوات الست الأخيرة من حياته.

وفاة نابليون

حيث أظهر تشريح جثة نابليون بونابرت أن وفاته جاءت كنتيجة لإصابته بسرطان المعدة، رغمَ أن كثيرًا من العلماء يقولون إن الوفاة جاءت نتيجة التسمم بالزرنيخ.

حيث يُعدُّ نابليون بونابرت أحد أبرز القادة العسكريين في التاريخ، وتدرس حملاته العسكرية في العديد من المدارس الحربية حول العالم، ورغم أن الآراء منقسمة حوله.

حيث يراه معارضوه طاغيةً جبارًا أعاد الحكومة لإمبراطورية ووزع المناصب والألقاب على أسرته ودخل مغامرات عسكرية دمَّرت الجيش.

أنصار نابليون

إن محبيه يرونه رجلَ دولة وراعيًا للحضارة، إذ يُنسب إليه القانون المدني الفرنسي، المعروف باسم قانون نابليون، الذي وضع الأسس الإدارية والقضائية إلى معظم دول أوروبا الغربية.

والدول التي خضعت للاحتلال الفرنسي في العصور اللاحقة، بحيثُ كان هذا القانون أكثر القوانين تأثيرًا في أوروبا والعالم مُنذُ سُقُوط الإمبراطورية الرومانية.

فلسفة نابليون

وفي هذ الصدد يقول المُؤرخ البريطاني أندرو روبرتس: «إنَّ الأفكار التي تُشكِّلُ جزءًا أساسيًّا من عالمنا (الغربي) المعاصر كتولية وإستلام الوظائف بناءً على الجدارة، والمُساواة أمام القانون.

واحترام حق الملكيَّة، والتسامح مع الأديان والمذاهب، وعلمنة النظام التعليمي، وابتكار النظم المالية السليمة، وغيرها كلها دوَّنت وابتدعت ونشرت على يد نابليون.

ويضاف إليها ما ابتكره من نظم الإدارة المحلية العقلانية والفعَّالة، وقضاؤه على اللصوصيَّة الريفيَّة، وتشجيعه العلوم والفنون، وإفناؤه للإقطاعيَّة، وتدوينه أهم القوانين منذ سقوط الإمبراطورية الرومانية».

رأي العرب

أنصار مدرسة نابليون يرونه أخرج المشرق العربي من الجهل إلى ركب الحضارة خاصة مع آلة الطباعة وطباعة الورق.

والجانب الأخر بعض المفكرين يرونه غازي محارب ومستعمر يريد فقط إشباع الغرائز والسيطرة على مقدرات الشعوب, ونشر الأفكار العلمانية والتحرر.

And here his ingenuity first appeared in Paris itself, when he contributed to the consolidation of the administration government and to the elimination of the demonstrations carried out by the monarchists, aided by conservative and reactionary elements.

Constitutional Monarchy

Then he returned in the year 1797 and supported this government against the trend for France to be a constitutional monarchy, and since this date it became the actual bond to it and to the constitution in 1795.

The star of Napoleon Bonaparte emerged during the era of the First French Republic, when the administration government entrusted him with leading two military campaigns directed against the coalition of countries attacking France.

Military campaign

He won in all the battles he fought, and was able to conquer the Italian peninsula within a year, and establish "sister republics of France" with the support of some local forces, to become a national hero in France.

In 1798, Napoleon Bonaparte led a military campaign against Egypt in order to cut off Britain's road to India.

This campaign extended until it reached the southern Levant, where he besieged the city of Acre, but he failed to break into it to prevent its entrenchments and the steadfastness of its ruler, Ahmed Pasha al-Jazzar.

And the British fleet's support to protect the city, then with the advent of the plague and its killing of French soldiers, Napoleon Bonaparte was forced to withdraw to Egypt and then returned to Europe to turmoil conditions in France.

In 1799, Napoleon Bonaparte dismissed the administration government and established a government consisting of 3 consuls in its place, and he himself assumed the position of first consul.

Then he established military and diplomatic alliances with the Persians, the Indians, and the Ottomans in order to strike both the British interests in India and the Russian interests in the Middle East.

Cooperation with the Indians and Persians

He cooperated with the Sultan of the Kingdom of Mysore Fateh Ali Khan Tipu and supported him with many soldiers and equipment during his war with the British in India.

Napoleon Bonaparte, then, sought to declare himself emperor, and this was done 5 years later by a proclamation of the French Senate.

The French Empire fought several conflicts during the first decade of the nineteenth century, known as the Napoleonic Wars, in which all the great powers in Europe entered, and France achieved impressive victories in that era.

European expansion

over all the nations it fought against, and made for itself the chief center in continental Europe, namely France, and stretched its fingers into the affairs of almost all European nations.

Napoleon's defeats

The French invasion of Russia in 1812 AD constituted a turning point in the fortunes of Napoleon Bonaparte, as the French army sustained heavy human and material losses during the campaign, and Napoleon Bonaparte was unable to rise again after that.

In the year 1813, the forces of the Sixth Coalition defeated the French army in the Battle of the Nations; In the following year, these forces invaded France and entered the capital, Paris, and forced Napoleon to abdicate, and exiled him to the island of Elba.

Napoleon's escape

Where Napoleon Bonaparte escaped from his exile after less than a year, and returned to sit on the throne of France, and tried to resist the Allies and restore his former glory, but they defeated him in the Battle of Waterloo during the month of June of 1815.

Here Napoleon Bonaparte then surrendered to the British, who exiled him to Saint Helena Island, the British colony, where he spent the last six years of his life.

Napoleon's death

The autopsy of Napoleon Bonaparte showed that his death came as a result of stomach cancer, although many scientists say that the death came as a result of arsenic poisoning.

Where Napoleon Bonaparte is one of the most prominent military leaders in history, and his military campaigns are studied in many military schools around the world, although opinions are divided about him.

Where his opponents see him as a mighty tyrant who restored the government to an empire, distributed positions and titles to his family, and embarked on military adventures that destroyed the army.

Napoleon's supporters

His admirers see him as a statesman and custodian of civilization, credited with the French civil code, known as the Napoleon Code, which laid the administrative and judicial foundations for most of Western Europe.

And the countries that were subjected to French occupation in later ages, so that this law was the most influential laws in Europe and the world since the fall of the Roman Empire.

Napoleon's philosophy

In this regard, British historian Andrew Roberts says: “The ideas that are an essential part of our contemporary (Western) world are primacy, the taking of jobs based on merit, and equality before the law.

Respect for the right of property, tolerance of religions and sects, secularization of the educational system, inventing sound financial systems, and others were all codified, invented and published by Napoleon.

In addition to this, he invented rational and effective local administration systems, his eradication of rural banditry, his encouragement of science and arts, his annihilation of feudalism, and his codification of the most important laws since the fall of the Roman Empire.

Arab opinion

Supporters of the Napoleon School see him bring the Arab East out of ignorance to the path of civilization, especially with the printing machine and paper printing.

On the other hand, some thinkers see him as a invader, warrior, and colonialist who only wants to satisfy the instincts, control the capabilities of peoples, and spread secular ideas and liberation.
