Chernobyl disaster

It is next to the malfunctioning power plant at the site of the world's worst nuclear accident, the Chernobyl disaster of 1986, which is now under the control of Russian forces.

"Kyiv informed the IAEA that it had lost all contacts with the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and the next day the Russian-controlled site lost all external energy supplies," the agency said in a statement.

The agency announced that the systems that allow remote monitoring of nuclear materials at the "Chernobyl" nuclear facility, the nuclear facility currently under the control of Russian forces, have stopped sending data to it.

Russian attack

Since the first day of the Russian attack on Ukraine, February 24, Russia has taken control of the "Chernobyl" plant, where in 1986 the worst nuclear accident in the world occurred.

Director-General Rafael Grossi "indicated that the remote transmission of data from the safeguards control systems installed at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was interrupted," the UN agency said in a statement.

This is a dangerous development in light of the war between Russia and Ukraine and the Russian army's control of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor plant, a message to Western countries and things will develop.
