The Tempest.

William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare

Writer and writer William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564, in Stratford-upon-Avon, the son of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden, in Britain.

He was educated at King Edward VI Grammar School in Stratford, where he learned Latin and a little Greek and read theaters in Roman thought.

life of william shakespeare

At eighteen he married Anne Hathaway, a woman seven or eight years his senior, with whom they raised two daughters: Susanna, born in 1583, and Judith (whose twin brother died in infancy), and Walts, born in 1585.

Little is known of Shakespeare's activity between 1585 and 1592, with Robert Greene alluding to A Groatsworth of Wit as an actor and playwright.

Study and learn

Shakespeare was studying at school during this period, but it seems likely that after 1585 he went to London to begin his apprenticeship as an actor, due to the plague, as London theaters were closed many times between June 1592 and April 1594.

During that time, Shakespeare had some income and money from his patroness, Henry Wreathley, Earl of Southampton, to whom he dedicated his first two poems, Venus and Adonis (1593) and The Rape of Lucrece (1594).

The first of the poems was a long narrative poem depicting Adonis' rejection of Venus, his death, and the subsequent disappearance of beauty from this world.

Shakespeare's popularity

Despite conservative objections to the glorification and praise of the poem for its sensuality, the poem has enjoyed great popularity and been reprinted six times in the nine years since its publication.

And in 1594, the writer Shakespeare joined the Lord Chamberlain's Company of Actors, the most famous of the British court firms.

In 1599, Shakespeare joined a group of Chamberlain's men who formed a guild to build and operate a new theater: The Globe, which would then become the most famous theater of its day.

theater and poetry

With his share of income and money from the world, the English playwright Shakespeare was able to buy New Place, his home in Stratford.

While Shakespeare was seen as the most important playwright of his time, evidence suggests that he and his contemporaries looked to poetry, not playwriting, for enduring fame.

He composed sonnets by Shakespeare between 1593 and 1601, although they were not published until 1609.

Namely that edition, Shakespeare's Sonnets, as it consists of 154 sonatas, all written in the form of three quatrains and a binary stanza now known as Shakespeare.

Poems and theaters

Where the sonnets are divided into two groups: sonnets 1-126, addressed to a dear friend, a handsome and noble young man, and sonnets 127-152, to the insidious and wonderful "Lady of Darkness".

And the poet loved against his will, as nearly all of Shakespeare's sonnets teach the inevitable dissolution of time, the immortality of beauty and love in poetry.

In his poems and plays, Shakespeare invented thousands of words, often combining or distorting Latin, French, and indigenous roots.

Like words

It includes his interesting expansion of the admirable words of the English language, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, words such as: villain, birthplace, blood, courtship, dewdrop.

And Downstairs, Canines, Hearts, Humps, Leaping, False Quote, Festivals, Sunshine, Schoolboy, Dead, Watchdog, and Clown.

Shakespeare wrote more than thirty plays, and these are usually divided into four categories: history, comedy, tragedies, and romance.

Shakespeare's plays

His first plays were mainly comedies and historical plays such as Henry VI and The Comedy of Errors, but in 1596 Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet, his second tragedy.

Over the next ten years, he returned to formal form, writing the plays for which he is now famous: Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra.

And in his later years as an English writer, as Shakespeare turned to romance with Cymbeline, A Winter's Tale, and The Tempest.

Shakespeare's creativity

And only eighteen of Shakespeare's plays were published separately in quarto editions during his lifetime; For which a complete collection of his works did not appear until the publication of the first folio in 1623, several years after his death.

However, contemporaries and art pioneers acknowledged Shakespeare's accomplishments, Francis Meres cited the "soft-tongued" Shakespeare for his plays and poems in 1598.

Shakespeare's death

Chamberlain's Men rose to become London's leading dramatist, which was installed among members of the royal family in 1603, sometime after 1612, Shakespeare retired from the theater and returned to his home in Stratford.

There he made his will in January 1616, which included his famous will to his wife, "The Second Best Bed." Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616, and was buried two days later in Stratford Chapel.
