The owners of the groove

The owners of the groove
The owners of the groove

They are a people who sacrificed their lives for the sake of steadfastness in the belief in God Almighty, and they are Christians who live in Najran, in the south of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, close to the state of Yemen today.

The word groove is a reference to the pit in which a fire was lit and the believers of the new religion were thrown into it, which is the religion of the boy, and the meaning of the groove is a rectangle, a slit that is sunken at the bottom of the earth, or a deep hole or hole in the ground, especially above the surface of the earth.

The King and the Wizard

There was a king who was not united with God in the Najran region, and he had a magician who relied on the jinn to strengthen his kingdom and laugh at the people who believed that the king was a prophet and messenger from God.

And the hadith narrated by Imam Muslim, may God have mercy on him, with his chain of transmission to Suhaib, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: He was a king among those who were before you, and he had a sorcerer.

And when he grew up, meaning a magician, he said to the king: I have grown up, so send to me a boy who will teach him magic. So he sent a boy to him to teach him, and he was on his way if he walked a monk, he was on the way of the boy if he walked to the magician a monk.

So he sat down to him and heard his words, and he liked it, so if the magician came, he passed by the monk and sat with him, and if the magician came he hit him because he was late for the lesson of the lesson of magic.

The servant and the boy

And it is the relationship between truth and falsehood and steadfastness on the truth, and this is what happened between the righteous worshiping monk in the cave and the boy, and it is what Muslim brought out in his Sahih from a proven path on the authority of Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Laila on the authority of Suhaib that the Messenger of God, peace be upon him - said: “The king of Among those who were before you, and he had a sorcerer, and when he grew up, he said to the king: I have grown up, so resurrect.

He complained about this to the monk, and he said: If you fear the magician, say: My family imprisoned me. So he took a stone and said: O God, if the order of the monk is more beloved to you than the command of the sorcerer, then kill this beast, so that the people can move on. Then he threw it and killed it, and the people went away.

Minister or deputy

The king had a companion or deputy, but he was blind and did not see, so the monk came and told him, and the monk said to him: O my son, you are better than me today, and he has reached what I see in your matter, and that you will be afflicted, so if you are afflicted, do not show me, and the boy is the most righteous and the most dumb. It cures people of other diseases.

So a companion of the king heard that he was blind, and he brought him many gifts, and he said, “I don’t agree with you if you cured me.” He said: “I do not heal anyone, but God Almighty heals.

The boy's confrontation with the king

The king's attendant went, and sat next to the king, as he was sitting before he lost his sight, and the king said to him: Who will restore your sight to you? The babysitter said: My Lord, so the king got angry and said: Do you have a Lord besides me? He said: My Lord, and your Lord is God. So the king revolted, and ordered his torture, but they continued to torture him until he showed the boy.

The king ordered to bring the boy, then said to him, addressing him: O my son, you have reached a great deal of witchcraft, to the extent that you have cured the blind and the leper, and the boy said: I do not heal anyone, but God Almighty heals, so the king ordered to torture him, so they tortured him until he indicated the monk.

the presence of the monk

The monk was brought and said to him: Go back from your religion. The monk refused, so a chainsaw was brought, and it was placed on his head splitter, then it was sawn and it fell in two halves, then he brought the king’s attendant and also sawed it in two halves.

Then the boy was brought, and it was said to him: Go back to your religion, but he refused, so he gave him to a group of his companions, and he said: Take him to a mountain, so go up the mountain with him, and if you reach its peak, then if he reverts from his religion, or else, throw him away, so they took him to the mountain.

O God, suffice them with whatever you wish, so the mountain trembled with them and they fell, and he came walking to the king, so the king said to him: What did your companions do? He said: May God suffice them.

sea and arrow

So he gave him to a group of his companions, and he said: Take him with him, and carry him in Karkor, and put him in the middle of the sea. : What did your companions do? He said: May God suffice them.

The boy said to the king: You will not kill me until you do what I command you. He said: What is it? He said: Gather the people in one place, and crucify me on a trunk, then take an arrow from my quiver, then put the arrow in the butt of the bow, then say: In the name of God, Lord of the boy, then shoot, for if you do that you will kill me.

So he gathered the people in one place, and crucified him on a trunk, and took an arrow from his quiver, then put the arrow in the bow’s shoulder, then said: “In the name of God, Lord of the boy.” Then he threw it.

digging groove with fire

The people said: We believe in the Lord of the boy, we believe in the Lord of the boy, we believe in the Lord of the boy, so the king came, and it was said to him: Did you see what you were warning?

God has sent down your warning, the people have believed, so He ordered the groove at the mouths of the railroads of Medina and threw everyone who refused to relinquish the debt of the boy.

So she took it, and set it on fire, and he said: Whoever does not relinquish his religion, put him in it, until a woman came, with a baby boy to her, and she hesitated to fall into it and she was going to retreat.

The infant said to her: O mother, be patient, for you are on the truth and these are words from God. This infant will be given it until it proves its mother to the truth and the meaning of strength and patience in the face of trials and tribulations.

Lesson and wisdom

Holding fast to God Almighty, victory and glory from God, supplication to God in times of adversity, faith that God gives some of His servants dignity and blessings, that light has one way and it is the way of the King, the greatest master of this universe, and finally steadfastness on the truth.
