Marriage at the age of forty

Marriage at the age of forty
Marriage of a woman after forty

Do you realize what it means for a woman to cross the age of forty without being married? Or how she feels when her marital status is still associated with the title “Miss” while the young girls around her are married and bear the title “Madame So and so”, especially in a society that links happiness with marriage and success with marriage, As for the whole life, its key to them is in the hand of marriage as well.

But let us discuss the issue of marriage itself or not, as it depends on several things, including its connection to a certain age stage and not others. Marriage at the age of forty or after is considered illogical for some, especially in Eastern Arab societies, and is always associated with many concessions and adaptation to few All these worries.

A happy life

The life that begins in other societies after the age of sixty may end here as soon as the young woman reaches the age of twenty-five if she does not follow the compass of the laws that society is obliged to follow without any deviation or change of course.

But if she tries to change her compass and lead herself to a path that does not fall on the map of society, her ship may be doomed to sink and collapse.

You may think that the matter has changed recently due to the development of society and the presence of the ability to accept different types and categories of people, but in fact you are completely wrong, as the matter is still complicated as it is known, and the view of society is still burning as it has not changed.

To understand the matter more, here are several situations for women over the age of forty without marriage, “Marriage was a beautiful dream when I was young, as I wanted so much to create a family.

Trial and failure

I was getting a great deal of marriage proposals and I got engaged, but the experience failed for reasons that are too long to explain, little by little I became at the age of forty and began to believe that I was not destined to marry.

I was satisfied with the reality and turned to my future, but people's conversations, hums and looks were like burning arrows that chase me every day. What happens? The usual story, I meet a new guy, we talk a little and then he starts staring at my hand to see that there is no ring on my finger.

Then he gives me that look that I know well and hate just as much, and then comes the usual question, “Why are you married until now?” Then he gives me looks of pity and denunciation, and sometimes also of healing.”

Forgiveness for marriage

“As long as you reach forty, you must go down a little.” That was the sentence I heard from one of the women who was trying to marry me, despite my refusal to a man who is over sixty years old and has 3 children from his deceased wife, as she said, she was trying to earn me the reward of caring for a sick old man and taking care of a sick old man. his children.

At first, I was irritated by her strange insistence on consummating the marriage, despite my objection to everything, including her humiliating way, but then I began to get used to it, and even became convinced that I would only marry in this way.

Men of my age prefer their young twenties, as for those over forty years of age, her fate is with a widower in his sixties or a divorcee who supports 3 or more children or others.”

“Concessions do not stop at the “type of the groom” only. Even if you decide to move forward in one of those relationships, a new chapter of compromises will soon begin that you have to deal with until the marriage is completed. There is no objection to compromising some of the basics or lowering your expectations regarding your dream apartment.

Interfering in women's affairs

The joy you wish you had one day, or even simple intuitive agreements, this of course without mentioning the pressures and psychological blackmail that you are exposed to, whether from your close ones, friends, neighbors, or even your pressure.

You personally agree to any marriage proposal, even if it is not suitable for you from any direction, because you know that “this is available and you are over forty and understand” as if the mirror expires after forty.

“If you reach an advanced age without getting married, you will find everyone without exaggeration “sticking their nose” into all the details of your life, and even marriage proposals will come to you from “everyone who comes and bears,” starting with family and friends and even the guardian of your home.

Contradictions with society

Everyone offers to help you with good or bad intentions “on the pretext that they want to make you happy.” Some may even try to persuade you by force to complete the marriage, even if the circumstances are not suitable or the person himself is not suitable.

I am always surprised by their exaggerated insistence on completing the matter and I do not know if this person is just a good broker or a salesperson looking for his commission from completing the “allegiance”.

“I hate the salon room and the day someone whispers in my ear, “You are a bridegroom,” I feel anxious and tense from the first moment. The same story is repeated every time, I enter through the door of my room to the salon room, which has become like a torture room in which I wait for my turn to receive my penalty for a crime I did not. committed it.

daily salon

I sit in front of the groom and his family to do a comprehensive examination and evaluation of me, my family and my home, then the “auction of concessions” begins, which of course I will be the losing party.

I refuse the matter because of the large number of concessions and the inappropriateness of the circumstances, then I collapsed in tears amid the whispers of some, “You are over forty and are you applying for conditions?” To write the temporary ending chapter of the daily salon scene.

“Most of the marriage proposals that come to me are either from a widow, a divorced person, or someone looking for a second wife, and all of them are related to many concessions that the other party does not make, but you must submit to her, and this always ends the story before it even begins.

But if I am lucky and fate smiles at me and throws the right person in my way, it always fails because of social circumstances, level difference, or even the age difference.”

Women are part of life

“As I get older, my requirements become more, so I feel that I have to slow down in my choice of the man I will be associated with, and sometimes I think that I am used to life like this and that change will be very difficult, but unfortunately this is the opposite of the society’s view that links the success of women to “social status.”

No matter how successful you are in your life, something will remain missing from you as long as your marital status is associated with the title of “single” and this may force you to accept any marriage proposal even if the other party is not suitable.

Both culturally Or social or something else, maybe my personality was strong enough not to get carried away by this, but many are under the pressure of society and life and people give in.
