قضية قيادة المرأة السعودية أصبحت قضية من الماضي وذلك بفضل الحراك التي أحدثه الأمير الشاب محمد بن سلمان على مدار عمر المملكة العربية السعودية خلال 4 سنوات وهو في منصب ولي العهد للملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود ملك المملكة العربية السعودية.

قيادة المرأة في السعودية، قضية من إختصاص المجتمع السعودي لأنها الدولة الوحيدة في العالم الذي كانت تمنع المرأة من قيادة السيارات, من عدة أسباب التراث ورجال الدين, وأصبحت هذه القضية قضية الرأي المجتمع السعودي حاليا.

جدل في المجتمع السعودي

وكان عدم السماح بالقيادة للمرأة قائم بحكم الأمر الواقع في عدم إصدار رخص قيادة، رغم عدم وجود قانون صريح يمنع المرأة من القيادة.

حيث شهدت هذه القضية جدلاً كبيراً في المجتمع السعودي، وشغلت القضية الرأي العام لفترات طويلة, ظهرت أولى حركات المنع في بداية التسعينيات من القرن العشرين بعد تنظيم 47 إمراة قاموا من خلاله بقيادة السيارات في شوارع الرياض فيما عرف باسم مظاهرات قيادة المرأة.

وقامت الحكومة على أثرها باعتقالهن وإيقاف بعضهن عن العمل ومنعهن من السفر ثم عادت القضية مرة أخرى إلى الرأي العام في عام 2011 من خلال قيادة عدد من النساء لسيارتهن ونشر مقاطع مصورة لهن أثناء القيادة.

قرار السماح التاريخي

وكان منع النساء من القيادة أحد نقاط الانتقاد التي تعرضت لها الحكومة السعودية في مجال حقوق الإنسان والمساواة بين الرجل والمرأة, في 26 سبتمبر 2017 صدر قرار خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبد العزيز آل سعود بمنح النساء حق القيادة.

وشمل القرار على توجيه إدارة المرور بالبدء في إصدار رخص القيادة للنساء في 10 شوال 1439 هـ الموافق 24 يونيو 2018، أي بعد حوالي عشر أشهر من إصدار القرار.

وفي 21 رمضان 1439هـ الموافق 4 يونيو 2018، صدرت أول رخصة قيادة لامرأة سعودية وتغير هذا المفهوم المنع الى الأبد وأصبح من الماضي.

Women’s driving in Saudi Arabia is an issue within the competence of Saudi society because it is the only country in the world that prevented women from driving cars, due to several reasons of heritage and clerics, and this issue has become an issue of opinion in Saudi society today.

Controversy in Saudi society

The fact that women were not allowed to drive was de facto in the absence of driving licenses, despite the absence of an explicit law prohibiting women from driving.

Where this issue witnessed a great controversy in Saudi society, and the issue occupied public opinion for long periods, the first ban movements appeared in the early nineties of the twentieth century after the organization of 47 women who drove cars in the streets of Riyadh in what was known as the demonstrations of women driving.

As a result, the government arrested them, suspended some of them from work and prevented them from traveling. Then the issue returned to public opinion in 2011 by a number of women driving their cars and publishing video clips of them while they were driving.

Historic Permission Decision

Banning women from driving was one of the criticisms of the Saudi government in the field of human rights and equality between men and women.

On September 26, 2017, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued a decision granting women the right to drive.

The decision included directing the Traffic Department to start issuing driving licenses to women on Shawwal 10, 1439 AH, corresponding to June 24, 2018, about ten months after the decision was issued.

On Ramadan 21, 1439 AH corresponding to June 4, 2018, the first driving license was issued to a Saudi woman, and this concept of prohibition changed forever and became a thing of the past.
