Cupping

Benefits of cupping

Is cupping an alternative medicine that is from the past? Why were they resorting to it in the old days?

Is it from the Sunnah of the Prophet? What are its benefits, how is the process done, and what are its tools?

This is what we will discover through this article, and clarify all these facts about cupping after it has spread recently as a treatment for many diseases with efficacy.

And side effects that are negligible compared to modern treatment methods and the many side effects from the use of chemical preparations which are made of medicines.

We will delve into the secrets of cupping through noble prophetic medicine and evidence of its importance in modern medicine, and are Muslims and other peoples fail to include it in modern medicine?

Definition of cupping

It is a treatment that is carried out with cups and blood sucking, its concept is based on that spoiled blood is the basis of the disease and that removing it from the body through the work of cupping achieves healing and brings health and vitality.

From this concept, the body gets rid of harmful residues that annoy it and thus increases the flow of pure blood to the body's organs, nourishing and refreshing them, and the body restores its natural balance again.

The history of cupping

Its idea is that it was used before the birth of the Chinese, in which the horns of animals were used to make cups to suck blood after wounding the place intended to be treated, and using this method also was a way to drain the boils.

It spread in many ancient societies, in East Asia, India and China, and it is mentioned that the ancient Egyptians also practiced cupping, the use of cupping spread among the Arabs and the Assyrians were the most Arab peoples using it.

When Islam appeared in the Arabs, the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - approved cupping and it became a Sunnah of the Prophet, and through the twentieth century its tools developed and glass cups became a substitute for animal horns.

Benefits of cupping

Its benefits and benefits are greater than its side effects compared to modern chemotherapy drugs. It works to unclog the arteries and blood vessels, thus stimulating blood circulation, absorbing toxins and the effects of drugs from the body, and strengthening the body's general immunity.

From the research of Dr. Magda Amer says: that cupping works to increase the percentage of natural cortisone in the body and reduces the proportion of cholesterol. Cupping has a history of more than 5000 years and it has no side effects, thanks to God.

Hijama has a high position in Islam and it is a confirmed prophetic Sunnah, and whoever commemorates this Prophet’s Sunnah has a great reward.

Ibn al-Qayyim, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said: “As for the benefits of cupping: it purifies the surface of the body more than phlebotomy, and phlebotomy to the depths of the body is better, and cupping extracts blood from Areas of the skin.

He said: And the investigation of its matter and the matter of phlebotomy are that they differ according to time, place, teeth (ages) and moods, as hot countries, hot times, and hot moods in which the blood of their owners is extremely ripe, cupping is more beneficial than phlebotomy.

because the blood ripens and falls out to the surface of the body inside, so the cupping comes out What is not brought out by the phlebotomy ”.

Doctors have stated that in hot countries, cupping is more beneficial than phlebotomy. [And phlebotomy is the removal of blood from a human vein by means of a needle, so it is from the depths of the body] Unlike cupping, which is by striping the surface of the skin.

Types of cupping

Cupping is considered a type of alternative medicine, through which special glass cups are placed on the area to be treated, then the therapist begins to empty the air in the cup by heating or by means of a suction device.

Which results in suction of the skin under the cup, and the capillaries in it are broken off leaving Red bruises, this type is known as dry cupping.

There is another type of cupping, which is wet cupping, which includes making wounds at the site of cupping and removing blood through it, and determining the type determined by the specialist according to the disease and also determining the location of the cups.

Hijama is forbidden with these people

Cancer patients, people with kidney and liver diseases, heart patients and those who wear cardiac pacemakers, people who suffer from blood thinning, women in pregnancy and postpartum, and finally children under the age of four.

The doctor must also be consulted before performing cupping for those who are older, as cupping sessions for children are characterized by their short duration.

And therefore cupping must be done under the supervision of a specialist and a practitioner in it to perform its role in treatment and healing, God willing.

Cupping and prophetic medicine

The Healer is God, and God has commanded us - may God Almighty and Exalted - in many places in the Qur’an to follow the Messenger - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - in all that he came and commanded. The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, urged us to heal with cupping in more than one prophetic hadith.

On the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah - may God be pleased with him - he said: I heard the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - say: “If it is in something.

From your medicine - or it is in something, it is better for your medicine, then it is a potion, or a drink. Fire, blows disease, and I would not like to burn. Agreed upon and pronounced by Bukhari.

So consider the care and mercy of the Chosen Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - when he advised us to use cupping and honey and made them among the means of healing.

And where the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - was treated with cupping a lot and in various places on the members of his noble body, which made healing with cupping a prophetic Sunnah for Muslims to follow.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - said: Whoever has cupping for the seventeen of the month.

And the nineteen nineteen, and twenty-one will have a cure for every disease. (Compiled by Abu Dawood and Al-Hakim and classed as hasan by Al-Albani in Sahih Al-Jami` No. 5968)

From this hadith it is proven that the best times for cupping are on the days recommended by the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace.

and these days are 17,19,21 of the Arab month, as it has been proven that the best results achieved by cupping on these days are preferable in the morning without evening and the summer season is better. From winter.

Scientists' quotes

Ibn al-Qayyim - may God have mercy on him - said: “These hadiths are in agreement with what doctors have unanimously agreed upon that cupping in the second half.

And the next of the third quarter of its quarters is more beneficial than the beginning and end of it.

And if it is used when needed it will be beneficial at any time of the month from its beginning or a Lhhh.

Then it was reported on the authority of Hanbal who said: Abu Abdullah Ahmad Ibn Hanbal used to use cupping at any time when the blood flowed.

What time it was. He said: The owner of the "law" said its times are during the day: the second or third hour (meaning in the morning, because the time for noon is at six o'clock).

He said: It must be timed after the bath, except for the one whose blood is thick, so he must take a shower, then take a rest for an hour, then cupple. Ah.

Then Ibn al-Qayyim quoted the author of the book al-Qanun (In Medicine) as saying: “It is commanded to use cupping not at the beginning of the month because the humors have not moved and agitated, nor at the end because they have decreased.

But in the middle of the month when the humors are very agitated and increase in number. Light in the body of the moon.

Then he said: They disliked cupping on satiety, for it may have inherited bad diseases, especially if the food was poor and thick. ”And in the effect:“ Cupping on an empty stomach is medicine, and satiety is a disease, and in the seventeenth is a cure.

” And choosing these times for cupping, whether it is as a precaution for health and preservation of it, and to avoid harm, and as for the treatment of diseases, wherever there is a need for it, it must be used.

Cupping and modern medicine

Dr. Amir Saleh, president of the American Association for Traditional Sciences and holder of the American Board of Physical Therapy.

and he is one of the most prominent Muslim doctors who have been interested in alternative medicine, especially what was mentioned in the prophetic medicine, says.

(and that in the interview that I had with him in Medina: Ahlam Ali), he says: “When I was studying the fundamentals of jurisprudence, I read the word“ cupping ”and it raised my desire to know this type of treatment.

But this did not come into effect except when I traveled to America, and found them studying in universities within the alternative medicine curricula, so I felt jealous of our religion, and I felt that we Muslims are too short to revive this year.

Then he mentioned that he prepared a paper on cupping within the research that was asked of him when he began studying for a doctorate between the University of Chicago and Cairo University, and in his research, he devoted a chapter on cupping to the Greeks, Pharaohs and Chinese.

In Islam, he wrote the hadiths in the two Sahihs and others, where the American professor was amazed by the medicinal wealth of cupping in prophetic medicine.

Whoever believes that cupping therapy is taught in America is an important branch of their medical curriculum, they call it cupping therapy, and it is unfortunate.

And even sad to see Arab and Muslim doctors deny this type of treatment, at a time when it has become a useful treatment for many serious diseases in most countries of the world.

Cupping with athletes

Among them is the Olympic Games that took place in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, when the spectators caught the attention of the red circular marks on the bodies of some players, most notably the famous American swimmer Michael Phillips.

These signs aroused the curiosity of the viewers, by searching you find that the Rio contestants used cupping as a treatment for muscle pain that You plague them because of the grueling training for long hours every day.

And yet, some Muslim doctors still deny what was mentioned in the prophetic medicine, and describe it as superstition, and that those who resort to medication with myths.

The law of God Almighty did not neglect anything, neither from the worldly affairs nor from the matters of the Hereafter, rather our Lord - Glory be to Him: We did not neglect anything in the book).

Some of them even boast and say: The prescriptions that the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - described did not describe them as revelations.

But rather described them as wise from the sages of his time who knew the experience of them and described them. Their mouths - if they say nothing but a lie).

All that is true - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - is true, truthful, and revelatory, and as for others, regardless of the degree of specialization.

They are taught by experiences and assumptions, and we believe doctors in what they say, but it is more important to believe our Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - and accept what he brought from his Lord is more deserving.
