YouTube announced its intention to publish estimates of the percentage of videos that are viewed on the platform of the "Google" company before it was withdrawn due to violation of its rules, revealing that the rate of these posts is declining and confirming the intensification of efforts to address them.

The company "YouTube" indicated that its quarterly report on content supervision will include "the rate of views for offending videos" to indicate the percentage of views of content that violates the rules of the platform, which was less than 1% in the last three months of 2020.

View percentage

"This number is very low," said Director of Security Affairs at "YouTube" Jennifer O'Connor during a press conference. "Of course, we want to register a lower number after, and my team works day and night in this direction."

Automated moderation systems detect 94% of the content that violates the rules of use, and withdraw 75% of it before it gets 10 views.

Jennifer O'Connor explained that the platform's teams have determined this rate in their internal data since 2017, a decline of nearly 70% thanks to investments in technology and human resources, and since its first report on respecting its rules in 2018, YouTube has withdrawn more than 83 million videos and 7 Billions of comments.

Contrary views

On Tuesday, April 6, the company released for the first time a statistic called "Violating Viewership Rate," a new dataset that YouTube plans to include in its community guideline enforcement reports.

Basically, for every 10,000 views on her social network - or at least during the last quarter of 2020, about 16 to 18 of those views are for videos that violate YouTube's rules, which currently block everything on some topics such as hate speech, racism, violence to medical information. The wrong things about the Covid-19 pandemic and the disturbing messages.
