أصبحت ماري ألكسندر أول إمرأة أمريكية من
أصل مصري تتقلد، منصب عمدة مدينة بولينجربوك في ولاية إلينوي الأمريكية في سابقة هي
الأولى من نوعها في عالم السلك السياسي.
وبذلك تم اختيارها ضمن أكثرعشرين امرأة
متميزة حول العالم، وسوف ترافق كامالا هاريس نائبة الرئيس الأمريكي جو بايدن ورئيسة
وزراء فنلندا في هذا الشرف تجاه إمكانيات وقدرات المرأة.
القصة كما هي
هي إمرأة أمريكية من أصول مصرية تقلدت هذا
المنصب الرفيع من مجموعة كبيرة من النساء وعالم السلك السياسي وترأس عمدة مدينة أمريكية
ضمن مجموعة كبيرة من الرجال إنها ماري ألكسندر، المصرية الأصل، قصة كفاح وصبر وتوفيق
بين العمل وبين البيت ولديها أبناء وأسرة.
كانت ماري ألكسندر تعمل في مجال الضيافة
في أحد الفنادق، وتلقت دراستها في ولاية تينيسي، بعد ذلك درست الإعلام في الجامعة الأمريكية
في القاهرة مصر، حسبما ذكرت ذلك في صحيفة "سكاي نيوز عربية".
الطموح والصبر
لقد كان لها طموح فقد فكرت في ترك العمل
في مجال الضيافة الفندقية، وتذهب إلى أمريك وتستقر بعد ذلك في عام 2003 في مدينة بولينجروك
بولاية إلينوي الأمريكية، وعملت وإجتهدت وصبرت حتى تحقق الحلم وأصبحت عمدة المدينة
وهذا بفضل مجهودها في مجال العمل المجتمعي والإنساني، والذي فتح لها أبواب المجد.
المرأة المتميزة
وتم إختيارها ضمن أكثر عشرين إمرأة متميزة
حول العالم وعلقت ماري بهذا الخبر بأنها سعيدة وفخورة بهذا الإنجاز، وأنها لم تتوقع
هذا التكريم، وأنه جاء إاعتراف جميل بصبرها وقيادتها ومبادراتها الرائدة، ولقد كانت
ضمن إحتفالات اليوم العالمي للمرأة.
وفي نفس الوقت تقول إنها تفخر بتوليها منصب
عمدة أمريكية، كونها أول امرأة من أصول مصرية تتولى هذا المنصب، وهو ما تم تقديره من
قبل وزيرة الهجرة وشؤون المصريين بالخارج السفيرة المصرية نبيلة مكرم، التي حرصت على
الاتصال بها لتقديم التهنئة والتبريك.
