صدق الكونغرس الأمريكي يوم الخميس الماضي
رسمياً على فوز الديمقراطي جو بايدن بالإنتخابات الرئاسية الأخيرة لعام 2020
وأعلن مايك بنس، نائب الرئيس الأمريكي المنتهية
ولايته دونالد ترامب، فوز بايدن ونائبته كامالا هاريس بالإنتخابات بالحصول على 306
من أصوات المجمع الإنتخابي، مقابل 232 صوتا لترامب وبنس.
وقرأ بنس النتائج بصفته رئيس مجلس الشيوخ،
وهي الوظيفة الثانية لنائب الرئيس الأمريكي، وكانت بجانبه، رئيس مجلس النواب، نانسي
بيلوسي.
وفي العادة، يعتبر إجتماع الكونغرس للمصادقة
على نتائج المجمع الإنتخابي مجرد تحصيل حاصل، لكن دونالد ترامب جعل منه حدثا إستثنائيا
بسبب محاولته عرقلة المصادقة، وفي إعاقة الإجتماع آخر فرصة من الناحية النظرية لبقاء
ترامب في سدة الحكم.
وكان من المفترض أن يصوت الكونغرس على نتائج
الإنتخابات التي جرت في نوفمبر الماضي لعام 2020، ولكنها تأجلت حتى فجر الخميس، بسبب
أعمال العنف الدامية التي وقت في مبنى البرلمان واعتراض عدد من المشرعين الجمهوريين
على نتائج بعض الولايات، لكن هذه المحاولات فشلت.

Congress officially approves Biden as President of the United States of America
On Thursday, the US Congress formally confirmed Democrat Joe Biden's
victory in the last presidential election of 2020
Mike Pence, the outgoing US Vice President Donald Trump, announced that
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris won the elections with 306 electoral
college votes, compared to 232 for Trump and Pence.
Pence read the results as Speaker of the Senate, the second job for the
US Vice President, and next to him, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.
Usually, the congressional meeting to approve the electoral college
results is just a foregone conclusion.
But Donald Trump made it an exceptional event because of his attempt to
obstruct the ratification, and in blocking the meeting, the last chance in
theory for Trump to remain in power.
Congress was supposed to vote on the results of the elections that took
place last November for the year 2020, but it was postponed until dawn Thursday.
Due to the bloody acts of violence that took place in the Parliament
building and the objection of a number of Republican lawmakers on the results
of some states, but these attempts failed.
