عرف الفرنسيون السيدة فيروز باكراً حتى قبل أن تغني للمرة الأولى في باريس عام 1975، وغالباً ما كرمها الرؤساء الفرنسيون وأحب فنها الجميل حد الشغف وزراء ثقافة ومدمنو موسيقات العالم.

جاك لانغ الذي أصبح من بين أشهر وزراء الثقافة في فرنسا كان في العشرين من عمره، عندما حضر حفل فيروز في بعلبك وأشهرها الشعور كأنه في الجنة، ووصف فيروز بأنها ذات صوتها ذهبي.

في عام 1988، كان جاك لانغ قد أصبح وزيراً للثقافة، وأحد أقرب المقربين للرئيس فرنسوا ميتران الذي سيمنح السيدة فيروز وسام الآداب الفرنسي، ويسلمها إياه لانغ في حفل مهيب في القصر الملكي الباريسي.
